Started it in January of this year, and I am hoping to have it completed by Christmas.I wanted to make an edit of the BSJ festival scene. This is a passion project of mine that I'm probably taking far too seriously, but it's been incredibly fun and, at times, cathartic to write. Two Divine Beasts down, and Link is on his way to the third. chapter 15, I think?)-but I've actually written 28 chapters, and recently crossed 190,000 words. I've posted about 11 chapters so far-all the way up to the first set of Divine Beast quests (the actual Divine Beast doesn't show up until.
A TALE OF TWO RULERS ZELGAN PLUS
The two main characters are Link and Zelda (largely through memories, though I've done some things to make her a character in the present as well), but I've also tried very hard to flesh out the side characters as well, including both the past Champions and the present ones, plus Kass and the older Sheikah characters. The idea behind it is to take the barebones story of BotW and rely heavily on its strong characters to craft a much more personal narrative with themes of failure, hope, and family. and you would be right! I decided to do what I could to turn the game, which is fairly light on story anyway, and turn it into a fantasy epic that, when it's all said and done, will likely be a little over 300,000 words long. By its title, you might guess that it's a novelization of the game. I mostly never wrote it because I realized partway through that a chunk of it was just straight up Thrall's story from WoW.īreath of the Wild is the fanfiction/novel that I've been working on. Plot Twist was gonna be something like the kids, knowing the truth from the now Queen, beat him and use the Triforce to banish Ganon specifically while keeping the Gerudo King alive. Finally puts the Master Sword in it's pedastal and fights off the madness of being infected by Ganon's spirit until Link and Zelda can 'Stop' him. Eventually Zelda and Link are reborn, and he 'fulfills' his role by taking over temples, filling them with artifacts and traps. It then went through him growing up, liberating Gerudo concentration camps, etc, and because he has the Master Sword Ganon can't actually possess him. Picks up Strength, freaks and hides, Queen Zelda tries to kill him right then and there, Old Man Link dies protecting him, kid accidently kills Zelda by deflecting a magic blast with the Master Sword, and the only witness is the Princess of Hyrule he was basically raised with. I had the thought of one where the reborn Gerudo Prince, raised in captivity as a political hostage by Queen Zelda and her (Much Kinder) consort Link, accidentally trips across (Is led to by the dark spirit of Ganon waiting for the boy to be big enough / strong enough to possess) the combined Triforce. I have a ton of IDEAS but writing a fan fiction makes me feel dirty. Everything about it is wrong, but it's too good to not enjoy. Maybe I'll wait until after the next Zelda game releases, to see if it breaks any of my fanon.Īlso, A Tale of Two Rulers is great, but I hate that it makes me ship Zelgan.

I have a handful of sequels to it planned and outlined, but I'm working on some other personal projects right now, so I probably won't get to writing any more until at least the end of this year. If I have the opportunity to brag, I believe it to be one of the most canon-friendly fanfics out there, as well. Her quest to take back what she believes is rightfully hers leads her on a path she walks only by her own choice.Īlso, it's the first fanfiction I've ever written, and was a lot of fun.

The spoilerific summary: Zelda's elder sister, Minerva, breeds her hatred when their father passes her over for ascension to the throne upon his death, based on a prophecy he saw that Zelda, not Minerva, would "save Hyrule" from the oncoming threat. The spoiler-free summary: What if the next long-term Incarnation of Hatred, long after Ganondorf was dead and forgotten, was a Royal Family member? What would New Hyrule look like in a world where this occurs? They would be someone with people who love them, someone with followers, and someone who knew all the things that Zelda usually knows. So since you're asking for an advertisement: Queen of Evil. But I did decide to write one because I was sick of waiting for a new AT game to happen. I don't actually read much fanfiction in general.
